Community Development

At HCC we are fully committed to building communities which are:

  • Connected
  • Respectful
  • Participatory
  • Resourceful
  • Trusting

    We work with all people in our community by undertaking projects and activities to improve services and increase access and equity across the Wingecarribee Shire.

    Through our client contact and our networking with other services, we often identify needs in the community and try to provide classes, projects and services to meet those needs.

    In the past many organisations such as Argyle Housing and Community Transport have started off at Stafford Cottage.

    We run many courses and programs that will assist people to become:

  • More connected to their community;
  • More resourceful, skilled and able to access services;
  • More able to participate in community activities and services;
  • More able to participate in community decision making;and
  • More trusting and respectful of each other.

    New Groups

    We understand that sometimes it is difficult to start up a support group or service. At HCC we can offer a place to hold meetings as well as a contact centre. Many groups in the Southern Highlands started at Stafford Cottage, such as the Newcomers Group.

    Room Hire

    There is a small meeting room at Stafford Cottage which is available to hire for community groups. Call 4862 1122 to book.The cost is $20 for a half day and $30 for a full day.
