Appliance Replacement Offer via NILS Program
Would you like to save on your energy bills but don’t know where to start?
On behalf of the NSW Government, the NSW Office of Environment and Heritage administer the Appliance Replacement Offer (ARO).
If you apply for a NILS loan you are eligible for the Appliance Replacement Offer.
June 2019 saw the Appliance Replacement Offer hit 50,000 appliances replaced across New South Wales since the program started. This is a great result which supports the programs core objective of reaching the most in need to assist with reducing their energy bills.
The program offers 40-50% discounts on selected new energy efficient fridges and TVs when you replace old inefficient models. This initiative is helping households to lower their energy bill, increase energy savings and bring affordability to their cost of living. The NSW Office of Environment and Heritage work in partnership with The Good Guys and NILS to deliver this program.
Should you experience exceptional circumstances (e.g. transitioning out of homelessness, domestic violence, or incarceration etc.) and not have an appliance to be replaced, you are still eligible for the Appliance Replacement Offer.
How much could households save on their energy bill?
• Replace an old inefficient fridge (6 years old or older) and save up to $200 a year
• Replace a CRT or plasma TV and save up to $125 a year
Three new energy efficient LG fridges have recently been added to the range of products on offer. To assist you to choose the best energy efficient fridge or TV to meet their needs there are now short YouTube videos available at https://appliance.environment.nsw.gov.au/Home/Products that demonstrate appliance features.
